Intro Contrary to common belief, confined spaces are not solely to be found in the construction and water industries, but are found throughout industry. Typical examples of confined spaces are to be found in manufacture [especially metal fabrication of vessels], in air-conditioning [distribution trunking], in farm activities [silos, slurry pits], vehicle maintenance [inspection pits & lorry tanks], in lift maintenance [the “well” at the base of the shaft], in horizontal & vertical service ducts in a wide range of buildings [inc hospitals], and even the asbestos removal industry.
This one day course will provide an understanding of the requirements of the Confined Spaces Regulations to recognize their confined spaces, assess the controls required, identify the necessary emergency response required and to be able to apply these principles effectively in practice to different types of work situation. It would be advantageous [but not essential] for attendees to already have some understanding of the principles of risk assessment.
