Overview:

Managing the safety of contractors is an area fraught with pitfalls and a failing that frequently appears in safety prosecutions. Taking control of contract work and fulfilling your legal obligations can seem like an uphill struggle. Not only are there practical issues, such as getting the contractor to actually do what you want, but also there’s a very fine legal line to walk - step over it and you could increase your potential liability significantly. Not do enough…. you get the picture.

To help you plot your way through the maze, we’ve developed this new course. This one-day programme will help you to identify: the current legal position on contractors; what competence and financial checks should be completed; what paperwork must be provided by the contractor; how said documents should be reviewed; what steps a client must take - and much more. We’ll even provide some sample documents to take away to help you to keep contractor management on track.

In addition, the course will consider UK legislation and it’s interaction, in particular HSWA Section 6, Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). Overview:

Research indicates that 90% of all workplaces have had workplace transport accidents within the last year, this demonstrates that it is a key area for consideration in improving safety. Whilst the principal & general requirements for managing health & safety are clearly defined in the various Regulations, the requirements and associated standards to be achieved are much less clear for vehicles; with the operator of the site [the first port of call in an official vehicle accident investigation] often being poorly aware of the “how”, or even the “why”, of complying. This course does not address the regulatory system for “regulated” vehicles on the public roads, nor its management. This course will address the issues arising from the use of “unregulated” vehicles as a routine part of the work process – primarily in getting the person to the place where their work will take place – and also the management of all vehicles of any category within a work-site - in particular, the design and management of effective vehicular routes and their segregation from pedestrians.
