In-depth Course
Whilst the requirements of PUWER are clearly defined in the Regulations, the standards to be achieved are often less clear; with the owner/provider of the equipment often being poorly aware of the “how” of complying; especially with regard to maintenance activity.
This course is intended for those who specify and/or manage the type of work machinery that PUWER primarily addresses and aims to enable the recognition of the hazards inherent in basic categories of equipment/machinery so that the attendees can gain a greater understanding of the issues that need to be addressed. It includes reference to “Mobile Work Equipment”, the Supply of Machinery [Safety] Regulations, the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations and Vibration/Noise Regulations; and brings in some British Standards publications for consideration. Because of the very wide remit of PUWER, attendees are given the opportunity to bring their own problems to the session for discussion in the last period of the day. (This will require delegates to give advance notice to enable the tutor to prepare suitable notes &/or exercises).

Information
Frank Hallett - Chartered Fellow of IOSH
Frank is a Safety Consultant who specialises in those areas of health & safety management that have traditionally been considered “difficult” to comply with. With regard to Confined Spaces, and also Work Machinery, his previous extensive experience in Essex Fire & Rescue Service originally sparked his interest in these topics as accidents tend to be fatal; leading onto later specialisation. Franks Confined Space expertise and published material has been used by a wide range of organisations to develop systems, training events and other allied activities to effectively control exposure to confined space accidents.
