These courses are run using the Zoom platform as an interactive course just as our live courses would be. We have had great feedback from delegates on these courses.

Overview
This course provides delegates with a thorough understanding of the health & safety issues associated with the day-to-day maintenance of buildings and associated facilities, plant and equipment. The course will also cover the management of contractors carrying out maintenance work. The trainer will set out clearly the legal responsibilities of all parties and explore through discussion with delegates the practical application of these.

The course will consider all types of maintenance activities and provide a clear understanding of what work is classified as construction under the CDM Regulations. Although the main focus is health & safety, the trainer will explain how health & safety controls need to be integrated into an organisation’s core management processes for them to be effective.

On completion of the course, attendees will:

• Understand their legal responsibilities for managing maintenance work.
• Know how to assess the competence of contractors.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment and the transfer of risk to operatives and contractors.
• Be aware of the principal hazards involved in building maintenance.
• Be aware of what Statutory Inspections must be carried out in buildings and facilities.
• Understand the importance of integrating health and safety controls into existing business processes for controlling contractors.
• Have an overview of the CDM regulations and the very specific requirements for managing minor works and maintenance.
• Leave the course with a set of objectives for improving their procedures for managing maintenance activities.

Who should attend?
This course is relevant to Building Owners, Building Managers, Maintenance Managers, Facilities Managers, Health & Safety Managers and anyone else who has responsibility for the management and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
