On completion of the course, attendees will:
• Know why their premises may be visited by an inspector
• Understand what standards the inspector must follow
• How the Fee-for-intervention scheme works, when it kicks in and how to keep the charges to an absolute minimum
• How to deal with a visit from start to finish.
Who should attend?
This course is for those who may have to deal with legal compliance within their business and may be asked to liaise with an inspector during a visit to their premises and are seeking to improve their understanding of how the enforcement regime actually works.
Trainer Profile
Simon Wakeham BSc (Hons) CMIOSH, MIIRSM
Simon has been a health and safety professional for over ten years. He started his career with a degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Law at Nottingham Trent University. Following this, he was employed by Costain on their graduate training programme. During which time, he worked on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project at Stratford International Station.
Following Simon’s spell in civil engineering, he worked for consultants, Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR), a national fencing contractor and then Indicator Publishing. Simon has now been Editor-in-Chief of the publications, Tips &Advice Health and Safety and Tips & Advice Environment for over six years. In addition, he has written and edited over a dozen books and detailed special reports. Simon is also a current practitioner in health, safety and environmental consultancy and as a trainer, he has presented a wide range of courses, both to fellow safety professionals, to client’s and their staff. His specialties include health and safety law and its application and managing contractors safely and effectively.
